Western Caribbean Cruise

This was my first time out of the country, so of course I had to get this adorable GiGi New York passport case for my new (and awful) passport photo. We started our trip in Galveston, followed by two whole days at sea. Our first stop was Montego Bay, Jamaica (pictured wearing this adorable blush cover-up from Anthropologie). We spent our day in a cabana enjoying the perfectly blue water of Jamaica and fresh fruits. After Jamaica we stopped in Grand Cayman, where I spent the day sitting in the middle of the ocean on a sandbar playing with stingrays. If you ever visit Grand Cayman, I highly recommend visiting stingray city, don’t worry you will not get stung by them! Our last stop on the cruise before heading back to Galveston, was Cozumel, Mexico (pictured wearing this pom pom cover-up from ASOS and these denim cut offs from Nordstrom). Cozumel was beautiful but we were in a very tourist heavy part of town and spent most of the day buying souvenirs for the our friends and family. While on the cruise, I was constantly applying sunscreen to avoid getting burned and I feel in love with the Neutrogena Clear Face sunscreen. Banana Boat Tanning Oil has always been a favorite but I used Neutrogena Dry-Touch when I was laying out. It is so important to protect your skin from the harsh sun, especially here in Texas. Don’t forget to stock up on great sunscreen before Memorial Day weekend! xoxo

Simple Summer Black

Dress: Orimono (similar) // Jacket: Gap // Shoes: Kate Spade (similar) // Necklace: (similar) // Sunnies: Karen Walker // Earrings: Anthropologie (similar) // Phone Case: Sonix

When packing for LA last weekend, I was in such a rush I didn’t really think through what I would need for my trip. When I arrived to my room and unpacked I realized that I did not pack a good outfit for a day of exploring and eating at nice restaurants. When I went downstairs to explore The Line Hotel, I saw a Poketo store and some great summer dresses in the window. I made a great impulse buy and got this simple summer black dress for a day of exploring West Hollywood. I love the way the neck is cut higher and the light weight material flows easily. This dress is great for layering, like I did with a denim jacket, and I love that it has pockets! This dress was perfect for lunch at Sugarfish on La Brea, followed by an afternoon of exploring shops on Melrose and a quick pick me up at Alfred Coffee. Find more of my favorite simple summer black dresses below! xoxo

Tie Front Dress

Dress: ASTR // Jacket: Gap // Shoes: Vince (similar) // Earrings: Anthropologie (similar) // Bracelet: J.Crew

Earlier this week I shared my time at Create & Cultivate Downtown Los Angeles, and gave a sneak peak of the dress I wore. When I was packing for LA, I quickly realized that I did not have an outfit that I liked and felt comfortable sitting in most of the day. I saw this ASTR tie front dress online at Nordstom, but they did not have any in the Dallas area. Naturally, I trusted the mail man and had the dress over nighted, all while crossing my fingers that it would fit. I ordered an extra small because I have another skirt from ASTR with a similar cut and an extra small fit best. This dress is great because it has adjustable straps and the tie front can easily be adjusted in order to make the dress fit best for everyone. The top button on the dress fits tighter on the rib cage and slight pleats makes the bottom of the dress easy to move in, but still gives a flattering shape. This tie front dress was easy to sit in and move around all day, and it went well with my denim jacket for cooler AC temperatures. The only complaint I have about this tie front dress, is the material. While I love linen, the dress wrinkles very easily and the second I sat down, I had a wrinkle across my lap. Blue Shirt Dress

edit-0422edit-0406edit-0419edit-0465edit-0431edit-0450

Dress: Cloth & Stone Utility Shirt Dress (comes in blue, light pink, sand and white) // Shoes: Kate Spade (comes in black too) // Necklace: BaubleBar // Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters

Cloth & Stone is one of my favorite brands sold at Anthropologie, they have the softest material and very flattering cuts. This dress was an obvious buy for me as soon as I tried it on, because it is so comfortable and casual. I chose to buy the sky blue color (also comes in light pink, sand and white) because the other colors were slightly see through and looked more of a beach vibe. I am wearing a size extra small, which fits well through the hips and is long enough to be work appropriate with heels. My only complaint about this dress is that the material, while it feels great, easily wrinkles.

I wore this dress to a Dallas Meetup event last Wednesday evening at Lion + Witch where Ashley from The Teacher Diva spoke about her journey though blogging and the importance of analytics. Lion + Witch (located in Highland Park) is owned by the same lady who owns Milk + Honey on Greenville, but Lion + Witch has a completely different feel and style. If you live in the Dallas area, I highly recommend checking out their new arrivals and inspiring store decor! xoxo

Bell Bottom Jeans

edit-7060edit-7102edit-7117edit-7146edit-7149

Top: Urban Outfitters // Jeans: Anthropologie // Shoes: Kate Spade // Earrings: BaubleBar // Sunnies: Urban Outfitters

I am typically a skinny or straight leg jean kind of girl, but I have been obsessed with these bell bottom jeans I found at Anthropologie this past fall. I am wearing a size zero which fits perfectly through the waist and hips, but is still long enough to wear with heels (if you have shorter legs I would not recommend these jeans because they run long). I paired my bell bottom jeans with one of my favorite tees from Urban Outfitters (bought it in four different colors, including black of course) and these adorable tan Kate Spade heels that are still on sale. BaubleBar has quickly become one of my favorite places to shop for simple jewelry and is where I found this necklace and these geometric earrings. These earrings are great because they make a statement but are lightweight and do not pull on my ears. Shop more of my favorite bell bottom jeans below! xoxo

Casual Transition Dress

edited-3610 edited-3627 edited-3630 edited-3643

Dress: y&i boutique // Bralette: Free People // Sweater: Gap // Bootie: Steve Madden // Earrings: Anthropologie

It is finally starting to feel like fall in Dallas, but this transition weather is difficult to dress for. In the mornings and evenings it feels like fall, but in the afternoon the temperatures reach into the 80s. This casual transition dress from y&i is perfect to layer with a cardigan for cooler mornings and evening, and still looks great with booties when you take off the cardigan in the afternoons. The deep red/maroon color of this dress is perfect for fall when paired with black and brown, or spring when paired with lighter colors. xoxo
