Nautical Stripes

edit-1695edit-1689edit-1864edit-1839edit-1710edit-1679edit-1858

Top: Banana Republic // Jeans: Gap // Shoes: Sperry Topsider // Earrings: Tory Burch // Sunnies: Karen Walker

I have grown up going to the lake almost every weekend, spending time on my family’s ski boat. Sailing, however, is not something I have had a lot of experience in, so I jumped on the opportunity to go sailing with my friends! I quickly learned how much work goes into it. You are always pulling, steering, and tying, but the Texas sunset made it all worth it. Since it has started to cool off in the evenings, I knew that it would get chilly on the water, and I would need a fairly warm sweater. I found this nautical striped sweater at Banana Republic and it was perfect for the evening. I love the v neck line and the variation of the horizontal stripes. The sleeves were easy to roll up and the knit blend is 25% merino wool, so it is both soft and warm. I am wearing a size small and it fits well without being too tight. It is also easy to care for because it is machine washable. I paired the sweater with my favorite skinny jeans from Gap and classic navy canvas Sperry Topsiders. Black Slip Dress for Evening

edit-1203edit-1303edit-1253edit-1320edit-1406edit-1351

Dress: Topshop // Shoes: Banana Republic // Purse: Neiman Marcus (similar) // Scarf: Elements Dallas // Sunnies: Karen Walker

The other day I styled this black slip dress for the daytime with a knit cardigan. Since this dress is so versatile, I am sharing two more ways I like to style it for different occasions. For an evening look, this dress works great with minimal accessories. I paired the cross back slip dress with these simple strappy leather heels from Banana Republic and a tassel bucket bag from Neiman Marcus. I love matching a black dress to my shoes and bag, and then use jewelry to bring a little color to the look. I decided to keep this evening look primarily black by only adding thin gold hoops and a thin gold bangle. The main accent was the beaded scarf I found on sale at Elements in Dallas (on Lovers Lane). I do not have a link to the exact scarf, but Mignonne Gavin makes some similar ones as well as Anthropologie. The beaded scarf is a great alternative to a chunky necklace, and easy to style with layers for fall. Stay tuned to see how I style this dress for a night out! xoxo

Metallic Foil Sweater

edit-0115edit-0169edit-0133edit-0193edit-0106

Sweater: Banana Republic // Shorts: Nordstrom // Sunglasses: Karen Walker

Dallas weather changes like the wind, and it makes dressing for the day very difficult. Just last Saturday I started the morning in cold rain, and by noon I was getting a sunburn. Banana Republic has become one of my favorite places to find outfits that can easily transition through the seasons and the day. This metallic foil sweater has three quarter length sleeves and an open knit that allows it breathe. I am wearing a size small and it fits loose throughout (including the arms), but fits true to size in length. Not only does this sweater pair well with jeans or pants for fall, but I paired with with my favorite jean shorts for a cool summer morning. The metallic foil on this sweater will pair well with darker pieces for fall and winter looks. Shop the entire look below! xoxo

Structured Red Dress

There is seriously little color in my closet, and for the longest time I have tried to add more color and failed. I have specifically searched for a versatile red dress in the past and finally found the perfect structured red dress at Banana Republic. I love the collar detail and hidden buttons all the way down the front of the dress. The pockets were of course a huge selling point for me, because everyone loves a dress with pockets! I ordered this dress in a size 0 and it fits well everywhere, but is a little tighter than I would like under the arms. The dress has a more tailored cut, but is still easy to move and walk in and is a great length for sitting.

I paired the structured red dress with 4 inch sandal heels (wearing size 8, fits true to size), but it could easily be paired with closed toe pumps for cooler temperatures. This black and gold clutch from Banana Republic went perfectly with my heels and is large enough to hold everything I need for a night out! I also found some simple gold jewelry at Banana Republic, including these hoop earrings and this bracelet (took me a while to figure out the clasp). This look is perfect for the summer heat but still nice enough for work or a wedding. Shop this look from Banana Republic below! xoxo

Longline Coat

edit-1397edit-1401edit-1416edit-1423edit-1445edit-1431edit-1439

Coat: Forever 21 // Shirt: Banana Republic // Jeans: Gap // Shoes: Neiman Marcus

Hard to believe that Dallas had 80 degree temperatures just two weeks ago. When the freezing temperatures finally hit Dallas, I realized I needed a new coat. This longline coat from Forever 21 immediately stuck out to me because of the deep crimson color. This coat has a wide hood that blends into the wide lapels and a front tie that is flattering for the waistline. I also love this silk blouse from Banana Republic with tie on the neckline, it also comes in grey, red and chartreuse. The overall length (including arm length) on both the coat and blouse are perfect for me. I ordered a small in the coat and a zero in the blouse. Shop more of my favorite longline coats below! xoxo
