Black Ruffle Set

Black Ruffle Set - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Ruffle Set - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Ruffle Set - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Ruffle Set - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Ruffle Set - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Set: Free People // Shoes: Banana Republic // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff

We have been so busy working on our new house, that summer has flown by. I finally took a break from decorating to make time for a date night and enjoy the last few weeks of Dallas heat. I bought this black ruffle set around my birthday for an outdoor concert and it was perfect for our dinner on the patio at Dolce Riviera.

This black ruffle set from Free People is perfect for the 100+ degree weather we have all summer. I wear the skirt high on my waist, so that it looks more like a dress, but it can be worn lower to show a bit of midriff. The material breathes really well and doesn’t show sweat, which makes it perfect for any outdoor event. I paired it with some classic black strappy heels and my favorite Rebecca Minkoff clutch. Black Slip Dress

Dress: ASOS // Jacket: Nordstrom // Shoes: Banana Republic // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff

I bought yet another black dress (whoops). I have honestly stopped counting, but it was hard to resist the simplicity of this black slip dress. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw my story where I posted a poll to help me decide between this pink dress and the outfit above for our Valentine’s Day dinner. The black slip dress won, and Alex died laughing when I showed up to our Valentine’s dinner head to toe in black. This dress has a straight cut, and because of that I decided to go a size up. The size 0 fit great in the top, but was a little snug though the hips, so I ended up ordering a 2. I used the adjustable straps to make the top fit better. I knew this black slip dress would easily become a staple in my closet and can be dressed up or down with simple accessories. For dinner I decided to pair it with a few other staples in my closet, including this faux leather jacket, black strappy heels, and my favorite black clutch. Shop this look and a few similar dresses below! xoxo

Dress: Trouve // Shoes: Banana Republic (similar) // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff // Pearls: Tiffany & Co. // Sunnies: Karen Walker

Yes, I added yet another black dress to my collection. I have honestly lost count on how many I own, but the mesh detail on this dress was too unique to pass up. The slip in this black mesh dress has the perfect amount of stretch to wear comfortably all day, and the mesh overlay makes the dress a little more conservative while still fun. It fits true to size (wearing a small) and is so easy to dress up or down. It can be styled with mules and a moto jacket for a more casual look, or dressed up with pearls and heels like I did above. These strappy black heels are a few years old, but I have linked some similar styles below. To complete my look, I added my favorite Rebecca Minkoff clutch which comes in multiple colors and patterns, and a few strands of pearls. I am a total sucker for an all black outfit paired with pearls, especially when it can just as easily be dressed down. Shop this look and a few similar styles below! xoxo

Long Linen Cardigan

Long Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of GirlLong Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of GirlLong Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of GirlLong Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of GirlLong Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of GirlLong Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Cardigan: Nordstrom // Tank: J.Crew // Jeans: J.Crew // Shoes: Banana Republic (similar) // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff // Earrings: BaubleBar // Sunnies: Karen Walker

The past two week have been a bit of a whirlwind starting with a trip to Maine (recap coming soon), and then my birthday. Now that I am back in Dallas and have some free time, I am finally catching up and sharing my new favorite long linen cardigan. Before our trip, Alex and I had a weekday date on Greenville to try Toasted, which was absolutely delicious! I like dressing up a little for our dates but also wanted to be comfortable, so I took one of my comfortable outfits and dressed it up with heels and accessories.

This long linen cardigan from Nordstrom is a great transition piece for spring and fall. It layers well with tanks, tees, dresses, and comes in five versatile colors (I have it in black too, of course). While linen is perfect for spring through fall, it isn’t warm enough for winter months. Luckily Nordstrom carries a cashmere version of this cardigan, and it happens to be a part of their Anniversary Sale which ends on August 6th. I have already stocked up on a few colors in the cashmere as well (whoops!). Both the linen and cashmere versions fit true to size (wearing a small) and can easily be worn as long sleeved or pushed up to three quarter sleeved. For date night I layered the cardigan over a silk tank from J.Crew and my favorite distressed white jeans also from J.Crew. The tank fits true to size (wearing a 0) and it comes in multiple colors and patterns. I shared these jeans a while ago and love them in both black and white (wearing 26 regular). I dressed up this basic look with strappy heels (similar), a timeless Rebecca Minkoff clutch, and fun tassel earrings. Shop this look below and if you find yourself on Greenville, be sure to try Toasted! xoxo

Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

edit_bw-4812edit_bw-4873edit_bw-4911edit_bw-4870

Blouse: Banana Republic (similar) // Skirt: J.Crew // Shoes: Charles David // Pearls: Tiffany & Co.

Thanksgiving is such a special time with family, and everyone has their own wonderful traditions. My family spends Thanksgiving at my grandmother’s house (remember Monna) where we enjoy a full feast before watching the Dallas Cowboys, and decorating her house for Christmas. We start the day in our “nice” clothes to take a family photo and enjoy my grandmother’s wonderful cooking, but soon change into our sweats for an evening full of football and leftovers. While I will probably we wearing something similar to the outfit above, I am also sharing two of my favorite casual Thanksgiving outfits as well!

This skirt and blouse are perfect for a more formal Thanksgiving, or brunch at the country club. I found this blouse at Banana Republic last year (wish I had bought every color), but I have linked some similar blouses (like this one) at the bottom of the post. This faux wrap skirt is currently on sale at J.Crew, but only until November 27th. Use code HOLIDAY to receive 40% off, and if you have a student ID, you can receive an extra 15% off! I love the fit and texture of this skirt, however it does run a bit big, I am wearing a 00 and it is still a little loose in the waist. I paired this look with pearls and simple nude pumps, but the skirt does have both navy and black in it making it look great with navy or black heels as well.

Sweater: Banana Republic // Vest: J.Crew // Jeans: Gap // Boots: ASOS

This look is perfect for a slightly more casual Thanksgiving lunch or dinner. Banana Republic has some great fall pieces on sale right now including this sweater which also comes in 10 other fall color. I am wearing a small (fits true to size), but the best part is this sweater is not itchy! The vest I am wearing above is from J.Crew about 3 years ago, but J.Crew Factory has a similar vest with the same pattern. J.Crew has the exact same vest but in different colors. This vest does run a little large as I am wearing an extra small and still have plenty of room for a thicker sweater underneath. I paired this look with my favorite skinny jeans from Gap and these gorgeous over the knee black boots from ASOS. I am wearing a size 8 in these boots (fits true to size) and have room for thick socks without the boots bunching up along the sides.

Dress: Nordstrom // Jacket: Gap // Booties: Nordstrom (similar)

My final Thanksgiving outfit is a casual dress for a warmer football filled Thanksgiving. This dress is currently 40% off at Nordstrom and comes in black, maroon, burnt orange, and two striped colors. I am wearing a small and it fits well through the arms and in length (it just looks shorter with my legs). Since the dress is short sleeved, I paired it with a classic denim jacket from Gap and some fun fringed booties. For a warmer look, the booties could be swapped out for knee high or over the knee boots. Shop all of my Thanksgiving outfit necessities below and enjoy your Thanksgiving! xoxo

Princess Peach and Mario

edit-3223edit-3276edit-3247edit-3272edit-3300edit-3247edit-3304edit-3317edit-3334

Dress: Revolve // Shoes: ASOS // Crown, Gloves, Necklace: Spirit Halloween Store // Earrings: Kate Spade // Purse: Custom // False Eyelashes: Ardell // Lipstick: NYX  // Polo: Ralph Lauren // Jeans: Banana Republic // Hat, Suspenders, Mustache: Spirit Halloween Store

I have always had the hardest time picking out Halloween costumes, and this year was no exception. I found these adorable heels on ASOS and was determined to create an outfit around them. Thanks to a few suggestions on my Instagram, I decided to be Princess Peach from the world of Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Luckily Alex was sweet enough to go along as Mario, and complete my Princess Peach look. The hot pink dress I am wearing is from Revolve and matches the ASOS shoes perfectly. I am wearing a size 2 in the dress, but wish I had gotten a larger size because it runs about two sizes small and has a tighter fit. On the other hand, the shoes fit true to size. I am wearing a size 8, and they were comfortable for most of the evening (4 inch heels can really only be so comfortable ha). I found the Princess Peach gloves, necklace, and crown at the Spirit Halloween store, but they can also be found on Amazon. My good friend Mel was kind enough to let me borrow her custom Super Mario star purse that she wore to Comic Con. I completed my look with Ardell 120 demi false lashes and NYX lip gloss in spice cake.

Alex is wearing jeans from Banana Republic and a Ralph Lauren polo. These Banana Republic jeans come in multiple washes, but I personally like this darker wash for a nicer look. Alex is wearing a 33×34 in the jeans and a large in the polo which both fit true to size. The suspenders, Mario hat, and mustache all came from Spirit Halloween store, but can also be found online. I like to make my Halloween costumes with pieces that I can wear after Halloween. I was able to accomplish that with both of our costumes, and we will be able to wear at least half of our outfits after our night as Princess Peach and Mario. Shop both of our costumes below! xoxo
