February is almost here, which means it is time to start thinking about Valentine’s Day. I have found some of the cutest Valentine’s Day gifts for her. Whether you are shopping for your mom, best friend, or significant other, all girls enjoy a little Valentine treat! xoxo
This time last weekend, Alex and I had just finished shooting this look when we were in a bad accident on the Dallas North Toll Road. Luckily everyone was fine, but we were hit by a large pickup truck and Alex’s car was a total loss. If you follow we me on Instagram stories, you know that we bought a car this weekend and are already in love with Sewell Cadillac’s famed customer service. Now that we are back to owning two cars we can focus back on buying house (ugh).
It has taken me a little longer to write this post with everything going on this week, but I could not put off sharing this super warm camel sweater any longer. This sweater has been perfect for the recent 20-30 degree temperatures here in Dallas. It is 100% merino wool, and I just love the neutral camel color. I am wearing a size small and it has a slight over-sized fit and longer sleeves than I would normally buy. I paired this sweater with my favorite Paige jeans and nude Marc Fisher heels. When I started seeing velvet appear in stores for fall, I was a little hesitant to purchase any. I tried on this tank and skirt together in J.Crew and loved it. I knew that velvet and leather would be the perfect combo to introduce the trend into my wardrobe. This velvet tank fits true to size (wearing a small) and also comes in light pink and blue green. The velvet pairs perfectly with this pleated leather skirt from J.Crew, but also looks great with denim. This skirt fits a little large (wearing a 0, but a 00 would have fit better) and is a midi length. As it gets colder outside, this skirt also pairs well with a black turtleneck or a velvet jacket. To complete my look I added my favorite black leather pumps, a classic black leather bucket bag (similar), and black tassel earrings. Shop this entire outfit below! xoxo
I always find myself drawn to dark colored clothes, and find it an accomplish to put together a head-to-toe black outfit. I rarely buy colorful clothes, and when I do, they tend to be muted tones and not very bright. My coworkers tend to wear similarly colored clothes as me (normalizing my obsession!), but many people associate my lack of color with grieving, depression, mystery and goth. I might be in the minority, but to me black represents just the opposite. When I see a well-made black dress or skinny black jeans, I think of power, elegance, and a chic sophistication that only Audrey Hepburn could convey. The Huffington Postactually found that a slimming black dress can boost a woman’s mood and increase her confidence. Personally, I find that I am most confident in a simple head-to-toe black outfit.
TheseRebecca Minkoff heels are perfect for summer and early fall. They fit true to size (wearing an 8), are comfortable enough to wear all day, and are best styled with a shorter dresses or skinny jeans. I paired them with a black mini dress that I found at Zara about a year ago. The dress I am wearing is out of stock, but I have linked a few similar options below. This dress (and the similar one) is great because it has built in shorts just like the skorts I use to wear in elementary school plus pockets. To complete my look, I added my favoriteblack Rebecca Minkoff clutch, lightweightGorjana earrings, and my go-toKaren Walker sunnies. Shop this look and similar black dresses below! xoxo
When I was little, I used to pick out my dresses based on the “twirl test”. I would stand in the middle of my room, and spin as fast as I could, to see how much wind my dress would catch. Every now and then I will try on a dress and catch myself spinning around in the fitting room. When I passed this floral maxi dress on a mannequin in Nordstrom, I just had to see how it would twirl!
This floral maxi dress fits true to size (wearing a small) and is the perfect length for almost any height. If you are shorter than 5’3″ you will probably need to have this dressed hemmed to keep it from over powering you. The chest area does run a little large, so you might want to try a size smaller if you have a smaller chest. I love the button detail down the back of the dress especially because you can put on the dress without having do undo a single button. There is a zipper (on the side) and hooks (in front) that make this dress easy to put on and take off. It also comes in a rust red color with darker flowers that is perfect for fall. Since there is so much material to this dress, it kind of speaks for itself and does not need to be over accessorized. This dress goes great with simple sandals or heels, so I paired it with my favorite strappy nude sandals (similar). I added a simple gold necklace, my favorite gold hoops (similar), and a woven clutch to complete the look. Shop this look below! xoxo
I love a good chi tea latte, and Halcyon Coffee is one of my favorite spots in Dallas to get one. They stay open later than most coffee shops, so it is a great place to go after work or on the weekends. Halcyon Coffee offers a full menu and a full service bar in addition to their delicious coffee. I planned date night last week and decided we should start our weekday date with a little pick me up after work. Since I was coming from the office, I wanted to wear something comfortable and office appropriate but still look cute for our date night. This peplum tee and my favorite distressed jeans were just the answer!
I absolutely love this peplum teefrom Free People, and it is perfect for a fun weekend look or a casual date night. Thispeplum teeis meant to fit a little oversized (wearing a small), comes in 5 great colors, and is less than $50. The white version of this tee is sitting in my shopping cart now (whoops!). I chose to pair it withwhite distressed jeans, but it also looks great with denim shorts. A few weeks ago Ishared these black distressed jeans and mentioned that theyalso came in white. Well… I loved the black version so much that I went back to J.Crew and got the white too! They fit true to size (wearing a 26 regular) and have just the right amount of stretch to them. I had mentioned that the black version picked up lint easily, but the white version does not have the same issue. I completed this outfit with a simpleGorjana necklaceand the most comfortableDolce Vita mules. Shop this entire look below, and be sure to stop byHalcyon Coffeesometime! xoxo
