Last week a colleague of mine described this dress and jacket combo as the “Palm Beach Babe” look. While I was unaware of the “Palm Beach Babe” look, I think I might start embracing it. Recently I have been loving the palm leaf or banana leaf prints mixed with white accents. I found this palm dress at Nordstrom and paired it with my ASOS white shoes and cropped jacket. This look is great for the office in the summer, because it pairs well with or without a jacket. The palm dress can also be dressed down with sandals for a more casual beach look. Happy Fourth of July! I know I usually post Weekend Words of Wisdom on Saturdays, but I thought I would mix it up a little for the holiday. Every year my family spends the fourth of July at our lake house eating endless amount of barbecue and homemade ice cream. Luckily the temperatures are mild enough (at least for a July in Texas) to continue wearing my white jeans. Usually there is not much color in my closet, but I have been making an effort to buy colors other than black and white. This tank from J.Crew is on of my favorites, so naturally I bought it in every color, including black and white. Shop some of my favorite red, white and blue looks below and enjoy celebrating the fourth! xoxo
I decided to wear a ASOS scuba high waisted skirt with a Shopbop floral scuba crop top to create a two piece dress look. The scuba material is super comfortable and easy to move in. I paired the look with my favorite nude sandals from Zara, a simple black Kate Spade bag and simple gold hoops and bangle. It was the perfect look for a day of sweet tea, sugar cookies, and friends. The Shopbop crop top is also reversible to a black and white stripe top that will pair well with the ASOS black skirt as well. Be sure to check out all the cute midi skirts and crop tops at Shopbop and ASOS as well as the wide range of products at The Vintage House. xoxo
I have been so busy recently that this past week was the first time I realized swimsuit season is here! Since I am just now focusing on the fact that I might have to wear a bikini soon (ekk!) it is time to step up my workout routine. When I have time to go to the gym, I like to focus on cardio and usually stick to an interval routine. I typically use the stair stepper or a treadmill at a high incline in order to get the most out of my cardio intervals. POPSUGAR has some great treadmill routines that I like to alternate between.
I use a few weight machines at the gym, but I try my best to do a weight routine every morning during the week. It is a goal to do a full weight workout every morning after breakfast, but let’s honest, I am not perfect so it is rare when I do this every day during a week. I use the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Workoutguide for most of my routine. Kayla’s guide is a great investment with circuits to target every area and they are easy to do at home. I also love Barefoot Blonde’s ab video(linked below) because it is a very practical ab workout and you will see results quickly. I use eight pound weights most of the time and try to do anywhere between 50 to 200 reps (depending on the amount of sleep I got the night before).
