Oversized Black Sweater

Oversized Black Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Oversized Black Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Oversized Black Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Oversized Black Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Oversized Black Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Sweater: Free People // Leggings: Hue // Boots: ASOS // Earrings: J.Crew // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff

What is better than on oversized black sweater? Okay, I know I probably love black a little too much and the oversized sweater and legging look is really just for comfort, but I seriously love this sweater. I picked up this oversized black sweater on a whim for a football game, which ended up being super cold. I put this sweater to the real test in 40-degree weather, and it was surprisingly very warm. I recommend going a size down in this sweater though. The oversized description is no joke, I am wearing an extra small, and it still fits very large on me. Even after a few washes I have not experienced any pilling or shedding, and the material is still as soft as it was when I purchased the sweater. I paired this oversized black sweater with my favorite leather leggings and black over the knee boots. This sweater also pairs well with skinny jeans or half tucked into a skirt. To complete my look I added my favorite Rebecca Minkoff clutch, and these adorable bow hoops from J.Crew. Shop my all black look below! xoxo

Wedding Guest Attire

Wedding Guest Attire - A Pearl Kind of GirlWedding Guest Attire - A Pearl Kind of GirlWedding Guest Attire - A Pearl Kind of GirlWedding Guest Attire - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Dress: Maggy London // Shoes: Charles David // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff

My previous Wedding Wednesday posts have been all about planning a wedding, but today I wanted to focus a little more on wedding guests. I always have a difficult time finding proper wedding guest attire for winter weddings, particularly with a cocktail or black tie optional dress code. Recently I came across this Maggy London dress at Nordstrom, and it was perfect for a late fall black tie optional wedding. You know I am a sucker for a black dress, but I loved how the material of this dress had both black and navy in the pattern. Mid length dresses, like this Maggy London, are great for winter because they are easier to wear without tights. I paired this dress with my favorite pair of black heels and a Rebecca Minkoff black clutch, but it also gores great with navy. I have linked similar dresses that are great for winter weddings below! xoxo

Halloween Party Animals

Dress: Trouve // Jacket: Blank NYC // Necklace: BaubleBar // Bunny Ears: ASOS // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff

Suit: Brooks Brothers // Dress Shirt: Brooks Brothers // Shoes: Cole Haan // Fox Mask: EZ Costumes  // Champagne: Veuve Clicquot

Happy Halloween! This year, Alex and I decided to dress as party animals. Ironically, we ended up blowing off all our Halloween parties to sit on the couch in sweats and watch season two of Stranger Things (whoops). Even though we did not make very good party animals this Halloween, our costume was so easy to put together. Most of our costume was already in our closets with the exception of the mask and bunny ears. I wore one of my favorite black dresses by Trouve with a classic black leather jacket over my shoulders. To transform myself into a party animal, I added these bunny ears from ASOS, and a personalized acrylic necklace from BaubleBar. Alex wore a suit and dress shirt from Brooks Brothers, paired with Cole Haan oxfords. To complete his party animal look, he just added a fox mask and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. Maybe next year we will be a little more true to our outfits, but y’all Stranger Things season two was just too dang good! Shop our entire party animal look below! xoxo

Black Mesh Dress

Dress: Trouve // Shoes: Banana Republic (similar) // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff // Pearls: Tiffany & Co. // Sunnies: Karen Walker

Yes, I added yet another black dress to my collection. I have honestly lost count on how many I own, but the mesh detail on this dress was too unique to pass up. The slip in this black mesh dress has the perfect amount of stretch to wear comfortably all day, and the mesh overlay makes the dress a little more conservative while still fun. It fits true to size (wearing a small) and is so easy to dress up or down. It can be styled with mules and a moto jacket for a more casual look, or dressed up with pearls and heels like I did above. These strappy black heels are a few years old, but I have linked some similar styles below. To complete my look, I added my favorite Rebecca Minkoff clutch which comes in multiple colors and patterns, and a few strands of pearls. I am a total sucker for an all black outfit paired with pearls, especially when it can just as easily be dressed down. Shop this look and a few similar styles below! xoxo

Head-To-Toe Black

Dress: Zara (similar) // Heels: Rebecca Minkoff // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff // Earrings: Gorjana // Sunnies: Karen Walker

I always find myself drawn to dark colored clothes, and find it an accomplish to put together a head-to-toe black outfit. I rarely buy colorful clothes, and when I do, they tend to be muted tones and not very bright. My coworkers tend to wear similarly colored clothes as me (normalizing my obsession!), but many people associate my lack of color with grieving, depression, mystery and goth. I might be in the minority, but to me black represents just the opposite. When I see a well-made black dress or skinny black jeans, I think of power, elegance, and a chic sophistication that only Audrey Hepburn could convey. The Huffington Post actually found that a slimming black dress can boost a woman’s mood and increase her confidence. Personally, I find that I am most confident in a simple head-to-toe black outfit.

These Rebecca Minkoff heels are perfect for summer and early fall. They fit true to size (wearing an 8), are comfortable enough to wear all day, and are best styled with a shorter dresses or skinny jeans. I paired them with a black mini dress that I found at Zara about a year ago. The dress I am wearing is out of stock, but I have linked a few similar options below. This dress (and the similar one) is great because it has built in shorts just like the skorts I use to wear in elementary school plus pockets. To complete my look, I added my favorite black Rebecca Minkoff clutch, lightweight Gorjana earrings, and my go-to Karen Walker sunnies. Shop this look and similar black dresses below! xoxo

Long Linen Cardigan

Long Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of GirlLong Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of GirlLong Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of GirlLong Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of GirlLong Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of GirlLong Linen Cardigan - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Cardigan: Nordstrom // Tank: J.Crew // Jeans: J.Crew // Shoes: Banana Republic (similar) // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff // Earrings: BaubleBar // Sunnies: Karen Walker

The past two week have been a bit of a whirlwind starting with a trip to Maine (recap coming soon), and then my birthday. Now that I am back in Dallas and have some free time, I am finally catching up and sharing my new favorite long linen cardigan. Before our trip, Alex and I had a weekday date on Greenville to try Toasted, which was absolutely delicious! I like dressing up a little for our dates but also wanted to be comfortable, so I took one of my comfortable outfits and dressed it up with heels and accessories.

This long linen cardigan from Nordstrom is a great transition piece for spring and fall. It layers well with tanks, tees, dresses, and comes in five versatile colors (I have it in black too, of course). While linen is perfect for spring through fall, it isn’t warm enough for winter months. Luckily Nordstrom carries a cashmere version of this cardigan, and it happens to be a part of their Anniversary Sale which ends on August 6th. I have already stocked up on a few colors in the cashmere as well (whoops!). Both the linen and cashmere versions fit true to size (wearing a small) and can easily be worn as long sleeved or pushed up to three quarter sleeved. For date night I layered the cardigan over a silk tank from J.Crew and my favorite distressed white jeans also from J.Crew. The tank fits true to size (wearing a 0) and it comes in multiple colors and patterns. I shared these jeans a while ago and love them in both black and white (wearing 26 regular). I dressed up this basic look with strappy heels (similar), a timeless Rebecca Minkoff clutch, and fun tassel earrings. Shop this look below and if you find yourself on Greenville, be sure to try Toasted! xoxo
