Sweater Blazer

Sweater Blazer - A Pearl Kind of Girl Sweater Blazer - A Pearl Kind of Girl Sweater Blazer - A Pearl Kind of Girl Sweater Blazer - A Pearl Kind of Girl Sweater Blazer - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Sweater Blazer: J.Crew // Turtleneck: J.Crew //  Jeans: Paige // Booties: Marc Fisher

Last spring I shared this sweater blazer in white and it was immediately added to my closet staples. I now own the same sweater blazer in grey, black and tan, and have my eye on the charcoal, navy and forest (whoops). This blazer fits a little large, so I recommend ordering a size down, I am wearing an XS and can still wear it over sweaters. The collar is also super cute styled down, I just prefer wearing the collar up with some outfits. I love layering this blazer over a variety of outfits including a simple turtleneck tucked into jeans like above. I paired the grey sweater blazer with a beige turtleneck (wearing a small), skinny Paige jeans (wearing a 24) and taupe Marc Fisher booties (wearing an 8). These Marc Fisher booties have also been added to my closet staples and I have my eye on the black leather version. Just like my favorite Marc Fisher pump, these booties fit true to size and are comfortable enough for a full day of walking. Shop this look below! xoxo

Burgundy Skirt

Skirt: Target // Top: Vince (similar) // Heels: Marc Fisher

Is anyone else sad that the holidays are over? I hate the feeling of taking down Christmas decorations and putting them away until next year. Luckily, Alex knows how to cheer me up and took me to see the few holiday lights still up in downtown Dallas.

A few weeks ago my friend Monica posted this burgundy skirt on Instagram Stories, and 30 minutes later it was being shipped to my house. I knew this skirt would be so easy to style for work and upcoming parties. I loved the way Monica paired it with a classic white blouse and later with a floral embroidered top. This old Vince top was sitting in my closet, and I ended up really liking the monochromatic look. Now, I just need matching shoes. This skirt fits a little large, I am wearing an extra small and it is still slightly loose in the waist. I suggest ordering a size down, or wearing a belt like Monica did. I love the length and material of this burgundy skirt so much that the black and navy versions are already waiting in my shopping cart. Shop this look, and some similar burgundy skirts below! xoxo

Forest Green Dress

Dress: Nordstrom // Shoes: Marc Fisher (similar) // Clutch: FIG Dallas

If you didn’t notice, I really really love Christmas, and I can never have too many festive outfits! Something about searching for the perfect presents, wrapping them, decorating the house with way too much garland and eating cookies nonstop makes me want to dress up all the time.

I saw this forest green dress at Nordstrom, and while it doesn’t scream holidays, I knew it would be easy to dress up for the season. This dress fits true to size (wearing a small), and it is under $100 (total steal)! The wrap waist is super flattering for indulging in holiday meals, but be warned, it can unwrap if you don’t tie it tight enough. I really love the button detail, sheer sleeves, and longer hemline on this dress. I paired the forest green dress with a gold clutch and shoes (shout out to my Baylor family members) for the holidays. This dress also pairs well with both black or cream accessories depending on the time of year. I have linked this entire look as well as a few similar styles below! xoxo

3 Ways to Wear Velvet

Velvet Top: J.Crew // Velvet Skirt: J.Crew // Bow Sweater: J.Crew (similar) // Heels: Marc Fisher // Leather Jacket: BlankNYC // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff // Turtleneck: Zara (similar) // Jeans: Paige // Boots: ASOS // Hair Bow: J.Crew

Who else decorates their house for Christmas the Friday after Thanksgiving? If you follow me on Instagram, you know I do! The Christmas season is by far my favorite time of year, particularly because there are so many reasons to dress up. I really like the velvet trend for the holidays, but velvet can be a little intimidating, and it is easy to feel like a 5 year-old if you wear too much. Since I had such a hard time styling velvet with other pieces in my own closet, I am sharing 3 ways to wear velvet this holiday season!
1. Velvet Skirt + Top – This velvet skirt pairs perfectly with a festive sweater. I liked the black bow detail on the sweater paired with the black skirt and tights, but a simple sweater or silk blouse (like this one) would work well too. This velvet look is perfect for holiday parties, especially at the office. Did I mention this skirt has pockets?!
2. All out Velvet – I paired the same velvet skirt with a matching tank, for a full velvet look. I wore the set with a leather jacket and heels to keep it from looking too juvenile. Of course all of my velvet pieces are black, but this top comes in 6 colors besides black and the skirt comes in 3 other colors.
3. Accessorize with Velvet – Incorporate velvet into your accessories like this hair bow, a handbag, or even shoes. I love how easily this black velvet hair bow dresses up a simple turtleneck and jeans.
I have linked some of my favorite velvet pieces as well as everything I am wearing below! xoxo

Black Silk Tee

Black Silk Tee - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Silk Tee - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Silk Tee - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Silk Tee - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Silk Tee - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Shirt: J.Crew // Jeans: J.Crew // Heels: Marc Fisher // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff

We are officially less than 60 days away from the wedding and in the process of buying a house (ahhh)! As you can imagine, I have been running all around town trying to get all the final details in order for June. After work, I either spend my time meeting with wedding vendors or looking at houses, and during lunch I am usually signing my life away with all sorts of paperwork. It is exhausting to go from the office to all these meetings in my work clothes, so when I find something as comfortable as this black silk tee, I wear it as often as possible.

This black silk tee from J.Crew is perfect for spring and summer weather. It fits a little oversized (wearing a small) which makes this tee even more comfortable to wear all day. It is lightweight and easy to tuck in or layer with other pieces, such as these high waisted jeans. I love the high-rise toothpick collection from J.Crew, and I was a sucker for the hem detail on this pair. I completed this look with my favorite Marc Fisher heels and Rebecca Minkoff clutch. White Button Down

White Button Down - A Pearl Kind of Girl White Button Down - A Pearl Kind of Girl White Button Down - A Pearl Kind of Girl White Button Down - A Pearl Kind of Girl White Button Down - A Pearl Kind of Girl White Button Down - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Top: Anthropologie // Jeans: Paige // Shoes: Marc Fisher // Bag: Cult Gaia // Sunnies: Karen Walker

Apparently when you get engaged, people expect you to wear white everywhere you go ha. Since my bachelorette party is this weekend, I decided to swap some of the black staples in my closet for white versions. My bachelorette will be pretty casual in Austin, so I will be living in this white button down and jeans.

I saw this white button down in Anthropologie, and I immediately picked it up because I love the Cloth & Stone brand. The material they use is so soft and is easy to style. I am also a huge sucker for a classic white button down. The subtle embroidery on the sleeves, pocket, and across the back really sold me on this top. I paired it with my favorite cropped jeans and simple white pumps, but it also looks great layered under a blazer or tucked into a skirt for a less casual look. I rolled the sleeves because that was most comfortable to me, but they fit right at the wrist and do not run long or short (wearing a small). I added my new favorite bamboo bag to the casual look. If you have not checked out the Shopbop sale, this Cult Gaia bag is included for up to 25% off! Shop this entire look below! xoxo
