The amount of time between Easter and Labor Day is just too short. I cannot believe it is almost time to put away all my white shoes and dresses. It probably doesn’t feel right because the 100 degree temperatures will continue well through September in Dallas. So, I am getting all the wear I can out of this white button down dress before I have to hang it up for the next seven months.
I found this white button down dress at Anthropologie while returning a dress that was a little too colorful for me. I can imagine how far my moms eyes rolled when I sent her a picture of yet another neutral dress from the fitting room. I promised I would pair the white dress with her vintage belt to add some color to the outfit. This dress fit a little large (wearing an XS) so I recommend ordering a size down. I love how light weight the material is and that this dress is lined and not see through. The sleeves and length of this white button down dress give just enough warmth in a cold room but won’t make you sweat in 100 degree heat. Shop this look and some similar dresses below! xoxo
I have always been pretty strict about not wearing white after Labor Day. I am a skeptic of “winter white” but I might be able to break the rules for this ivory sweater blazer. Yes, I love it that much! If you follow along on Instagram, you saw that I wore an outfit similar to the this one almost every day during our trip to Chicago. I guess I have gotten so used to 100 degree summers that 60 degrees called for this wool blend blazer.
This sweater blazer fits a little large so I recommend going down a size (wearing an XS) unless you want the oversized look. I have had my eye on this sweater blazer for a long time and this past fall I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the golden tan color. I ended up wearing it so much through fall and winter that it was an easy decision to buy the ivory color for spring and fall. This sweater blazer comes in nine colors and a leopard pattern,. The black color is definitely next on my list, no surprise. I layered th blazer with my favorite basic tee (wearing a small) but it also pairs well with a button down or turtleneck for colder weather. I completed my look with high waisted Paige jeans and classic Marc Fisher heels. Shop this entire look below! xoxo
I shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale every year and usually feel that most pieces do not really fit my style. This year however, I was so excited to see more classic and well made pieces at great price points! While most people were excited for this Something Navy skirt because it came in leopard, this non animal print girl quickly grabbed the black and ivory.
This Something Navy skirt might be my favorite Nordstrom Anniversary Sale find, especially since it is under $50! It is sold out in black and leopard print, but is still available in ivory (see InstaStories) and a brown floral pattern perfect for fall. The Something Navy brand runs a bit large so I recommend going a size down in all her pieces (wearing an XS). I paired the skirt with my favorite basic tee, but it also looks great with a button down blouse or half tucked sweater for fall. This basic tee is my favorite because it comes in 13 colors and it not too tight or too loose for layering (wearing small). I completed the look this Staud bag and strappy black heels (similar). Be sure to grab this skirt before the sale ends on 8/5 and shop the rest of my look below! xoxo
I know there is a heat wave hitting most of the US, and yes it is still 100 degrees in Dallas. So why am I talking about a sweater? I am always freezing and when it hits 90 outside, the air conditioner starts cranking in every office, restaurant and store. This linen sweater is perfect for those situations, because it is light weight enough to wear outside but also provides a barrier from blasting air conditioner. Unless, you love to sit by a blasting air conditioner in which case we probably shouldn’t be friends!
This linen sweater has an oversized fit (wearing a small) without looking too baggy. It comes in six colors including black, which I loved, but it was very see though. The ivory color is not see through at all with a nude bra. The buttons on both sides make this sweater ideal for half tucking into high waisted jeans or a skirt. I paired this linen sweater with the Paige Hoxton Hight Waist Slit Ankle Jeans and adorable Vince mules I found during the Nordstrom Sale (both still in stock!). I love the Paige Hoxton High Waist fit and own that style in a few different cuts and washes. Shop this entire look below! xoxo
It might be because it is in black and white, but @sirwinstonphillips loves watching I Love Lucy. Every day at lunch we watch reruns together and he is glued to the screen. It is hysterical! After seeing this black shirt dress, Alex decided I had watched one too many reruns and am starting to dress like Lucy. This dress would be adorable with a strand of pearls and kitten heels, but I tried not to look like I was from the late 50’s.
To make this look a little more modern, I paired this black shirt dress with strappy heels (similar), large Karen Walker sunnies and my favorite Staud bag. The dress fits true to size (wearing a 0) and also comes in hot pink and mustard. If you’re not a bow person, the belt is removable and can be worn without or with another belt. This dress is perfect for Dallas summers where you might be in 100 degree heat one minute and blasting A/C the next. It is 100% cotton and I love the length of the sleeves and hem. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is finally here! I woke up bright and early to go through the sale and share only the best buys with you. This is one of my favorite ways to shop for fall, even though it will be 100 degrees in Dallas until September. Please remember that just because something is on sale, it does not mean you need to buy it. I am only sharing the pieces that I think are great staples and are worth the sale price. Nordstrom Cardmembers can shop early until July 18th and the sale is open to the public on July 19th. Prices will go back up on August 5th! xoxo
I was surprised at how many great things were on sale for men this year. There are a ton of shoes on sale including the Sperry Gold Cup Shoes, these classic Allen Edmonds Oxfords, and these Johnston & Murphy Wingtips. If you are in need of a new suit, most Ted Baker and Peter Millar suits are on sale.

This T3 hairdryer is always a great NSale buy. I got one on sale two years ago and it made a significant difference in the time it takes to dry my hair. This Diptyque candle set is also one of my favorite NSale buys, it is a great gift because it includes five very different scents. My favorite skincare products on sale are the Kate Somerville ExfoliKate, Sunday Riley set, and the Kiehl’s Facial Fuel for men.
Best Buys for Kids
I do not have kids, nor do I know anything about shopping for kids. I just thought these little Vineyard Vines polos and quarter zips were precious. I also know nothing about strollers, but this nuna stroller sounds amazing and is marked way down during the sale.
