Pumpkin Patch

edit-3827edit-3903edit-3497edit-3636edit-3735edit-3671edit-3757edit-3689

Sweater: Dreamers by Debut  // Jeans: Gap // Booties: Nordstrom // Sunnies: Karen Walker

This week, I finally made it to a pumpkin patch. Despite the weather not feeling like a true October, I did my best to get in the fall spirit. I found a perfectly misshapen pumpkin and tried my best to carve it (hence the word “tried” and notice there are no images of the end result lol). I went to the pumpkin patch at Royal Lane Baptist Church, but here is a list of some other great pumpkin patches in the DFW area. I am wearing this cowl neck sweater that I found durning the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. Unfortunately this sweater sold out quickly during the sale, but I found a similar sweater at Nordstrom Rack and linked multiple cowl neck sweaters at the bottom of this post. I paired the sweater with my favorite jeans from Gap and fringed booties my Steve Madden. This look can be easily layered with a jacket and is perfect for transitional weather. I have linked some of my favorite fringed booties and cowl neck sweaters below to shop! xoxo

Nautical Stripes

I have grown up going to the lake almost every weekend, spending time on my family’s ski boat. Sailing, however, is not something I have had a lot of experience in, so I jumped on the opportunity to go sailing with my friends! I quickly learned how much work goes into it. You are always pulling, steering, and tying, but the Texas sunset made it all worth it. Since it has started to cool off in the evenings, I knew that it would get chilly on the water, and I would need a fairly warm sweater. I found this nautical striped sweater at Banana Republic and it was perfect for the evening. I love the v neck line and the variation of the horizontal stripes. The sleeves were easy to roll up and the knit blend is 25% merino wool, so it is both soft and warm. I am wearing a size small and it fits well without being too tight. It is also easy to care for because it is machine washable. I paired the sweater with my favorite skinny jeans from Gap and classic navy canvas Sperry Topsiders. Shop my entire sailing look below! xoxo

Perfect Plaid

edit-2598edit-2703edit-2760edit-2614edit-2742

Top: Nordstrom // Jeans: Gap // Shoes: Charles David (similar) // Bag: Neiman Marcus (similar) // Sunnies: Karen Walker

Happy October! Dallas finally had a small cool front last week that helped get me in the mood for fall. One of my favorite things to wear during fall is plaid. I found this black and white plaid button-down at Nordstrom, and it is already the perfect plaid top for the season. Since this flannel is a boyfriend cut, it is suppose to fit larger and be less tailored. I am wearing a size small, which is perfectly oversized, and great for layering. Even though this button down is 100% cotton, it is super thick and much warmer than expected. I paired the black and white plaid with my favorite distressed black jeans and went with black leather accessories. This plaid top would also look great untucked, with leather leggings, and boots in the winter. Shop the entire look below, and happy fall! xoxo

Colorful Skirt for Fall

edit-2838edit-2959edit-2800edit-2952edit-2961edit-2853

Top: Equipment // Skirt: J.Crew // Shoes: Charles David (similar) // Bag: Neiman Marcus (similar) // Sunnies: Karen Walker // Pearls: Tiffany and Co.

A few months ago I shared this white lace skirt that I found on sale at J.Crew, and how I was able to easily pair it with my favorite Equipment blouse for summer. Since summer is over, and Labor day has passed, it is time to put away the white lace and find something better suited for fall. The sale section at J.Crew is one of my favorite places to shop, especially when they are running an additional discount. I came across this colorful skirt in the sale section at J.Crew, and knew it would be a great transition piece into fall. Normally I would not go for something this colorful, but since the skirts pattern is on top of a black background, I decided it was still suitable for fall and possibly winter. I also love the way the skirt fits perfectly at the waist, and has a zipper up the back (I am wearing a size 0). I also love the pockets that are hidden between the pleats, and the slight flare of the skirt. Since this skirt has almost an identical fit to the previous white lace skirt, I was able to pair it with the same Equipment blouse, pearls, and similar pumps. When the weather finally feels like fall in Dallas (or just gets below 80 degrees) this skirt would also pair well with a long sleeve silk blouse or a tight fitting turtle neck. Since the length of the skirt hits at about the knees, I recommend wearing pumps instead of flats to give length back to the legs. Shop the entire look below, and be sure to check out all of J.Crew’s sale items! xoxo

Black Slip Dress for a Night Out

edit-1950edit-1646edit-1783edit-1820edit-1805edit-1661edit-1796edit-1450

Dress: Topshop // Jacket: Nordstrom // Scarf: Zara // Shoes: Charles David // Earrings: BaubleBar // Clutch: Elements Dallas // Sunnies: Karen Walker

Last week I shared this versatile black slip dress, and how I like to style it for the day as well as for the evening. The third way I like to style this simple slip dress is for a night out. The length and lightweight material of this dress makes it easy to wear with almost any shoe including these black leather pumps. To tie in the pumps I added this faux leather moto jacket from Nordstrom (also comes in a beautiful olive green). I am wearing a size small in the jacket and the sleeves are a bit longer than I would like, but I could easily wear a sweater under the jacket. I dressed up this look with my favorite statement earrings from BaubleBar, a star patterned neck scarf, and a beaded clutch from Elements on Lovers Lane in Dallas. These earrings are an easy way to dress up any look and do not pull on my ears. They also come in mint, white, and yellow. I am loving the scarf trend right now, and found some cute (and affordable) options at Zara, such as this black and white star scarf. Shop everything from this look below! xoxo

Black Slip Dress for Evening

edit-1203edit-1303edit-1253edit-1320edit-1406edit-1351

Dress: Topshop // Shoes: Banana Republic // Purse: Neiman Marcus (similar) // Scarf: Elements Dallas // Sunnies: Karen Walker

The other day I styled this black slip dress for the daytime with a knit cardigan. Since this dress is so versatile, I am sharing two more ways I like to style it for different occasions. For an evening look, this dress works great with minimal accessories. I paired the cross back slip dress with these simple strappy leather heels from Banana Republic and a tassel bucket bag from Neiman Marcus. I love matching a black dress to my shoes and bag, and then use jewelry to bring a little color to the look. I decided to keep this evening look primarily black by only adding thin gold hoops and a thin gold bangle. The main accent was the beaded scarf I found on sale at Elements in Dallas (on Lovers Lane). I do not have a link to the exact scarf, but Mignonne Gavin makes some similar ones as well as Anthropologie. The beaded scarf is a great alternative to a chunky necklace, and easy to style with layers for fall. Stay tuned to see how I style this dress for a night out! xoxo
