Black Slip Dress

Black Slip Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Slip Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Slip Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Slip Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Black Slip Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Dress: ASOS // Jacket: Nordstrom // Shoes: Banana Republic // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff

I bought yet another black dress (whoops). I have honestly stopped counting, but it was hard to resist the simplicity of this black slip dress. If you follow me on Instagram, you saw my story where I posted a poll to help me decide between this pink dress and the outfit above for our Valentine’s Day dinner. The black slip dress won, and Alex died laughing when I showed up to our Valentine’s dinner head to toe in black. This dress has a straight cut, and because of that I decided to go a size up. The size 0 fit great in the top, but was a little snug though the hips, so I ended up ordering a 2. I used the adjustable straps to make the top fit better. I knew this black slip dress would easily become a staple in my closet and can be dressed up or down with simple accessories. For dinner I decided to pair it with a few other staples in my closet, including this faux leather jacket, black strappy heels, and my favorite black clutch. Shop this look and a few similar dresses below! xoxo

Red Velvet Dress

Red Velvet Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Red Velvet Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Red Velvet Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Red Velvet Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Red Velvet Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Dress: Ali & Jay // Shoes: Charles David // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff // Earrings: J.Crew

Valentine’s Day is this Wednesday! Last week I shared this pink dress that I was planning on wearing for Valentine’s Day, but now I am torn between a few dresses. Not only is that pink dress perfect for Wednesday, but this red velvet dress would be great too and there is even a black slip dress in the Valentine’s Day mix as well (yes, another black dress).

This red velvet dress fits true to size (wearing a small) and has adjustable straps, which made the top of this dress a lot less loose. It is a faux wrap dress, so it has the flattering look of a wrap dress, but a zipper up the back. The bow in the front is the perfect touch of feminine detail completing the faux wrap look. I paired this red velvet dress with my go-to black pumps, Rebecca Minkoff clutch and some fun black beaded earrings. Shop this look and some of my other favorite red velvet dresses below and wish me luck in deciding between three great Valentine’s Day dresses! xoxo

Valentine’s Day Dress

Valentine's Day Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Valentine's Day Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Valentine's Day Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Valentine's Day Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Valentine's Day Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Valentine's Day Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl Valentine's Day Dress - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Dress: WAYF // Shoes: Zara (similar) // Earrings: J.Crew (similar) // Lipstick: NARS

This year for Valentine’s Day, I decided to trade in my typical all black look for something a little more colorful and feminine. I wasn’t really looking for a Valentine’s Day dress when I came across this WAYF dress, but I loved the fit and how easily it could be dressed up. Alex was so surprised when I told him that I picked something besides a black dress to wear for our Valentine’s Day dinner.

This pink wrap dress is currently marked 40% off at Nordstrom, just in time for Valentine’s Day! It fits true to size (wearing a small) and the cut is very flattering. My only complaint is how easily the material wrinkles, as you can see in the photos. The real stress test will be sitting though dinner, and seeing just how wrinkled the dress is when we leave the restaurant. This dress would also be great for a daytime or outdoor wedding this spring. I added my favorite nude sandals, simple gold earrings, and a dark red lip to complete my Valentine’s Day look. Camel Sweater

Camel Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Camel Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Camel Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Camel Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Camel Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Sweater: Madewell // Jeans: Paige // Shoes: Marc Fisher // Earrings: Kendra Scott // Necklace: Gorjana // Sunnies: Karen Walker // Lipstick: NARS

This time last weekend, Alex and I had just finished shooting this look when we were in a bad accident on the Dallas North Toll Road. Luckily everyone was fine, but we were hit by a large pickup truck and Alex’s car was a total loss. If you follow we me on Instagram stories, you know that we bought a car this weekend and are already in love with Sewell Cadillac’s famed customer service. Now that we are back to owning two cars we can focus back on buying house (ugh).

It has taken me a little longer to write this post with everything going on this week, but I could not put off sharing this super warm camel sweater any longer. This sweater has been perfect for the recent 20-30 degree temperatures here in Dallas. It is 100% merino wool, and I just love the neutral camel color. I am wearing a size small and it has a slight over-sized fit and longer sleeves than I would normally buy. I paired this sweater with my favorite Paige jeans and nude Marc Fisher heels. Shop this look below! xoxo

Cropped Green Sweater

Sweater: J.Crew // Leggings: Hue // Booties: Michael Kors

Happy 2018! I know I missed January 1st, but I took the last few days to reflect on 2017 and create personal goals for 2018. Plus, we have had a (not so) nice little freeze here in Dallas, so there was no way I was taking more blog photos until it warmed back up! I am starting the new year bundled up in this cashmere cropped green sweater. This sweater is so warm and easy to style that I now own it in multiple colors. I am wearing a small, and it is cropped just enough to wear with high waisted pants, but not so cropped that it is revealing. The sleeves are a little long on me, so I rolled them back once and they were just the right length. I paired this cropped green sweater with my favorite leather leggings and classic black leather booties. These Michael Kors booties go perfectly with leather leggings or skinny jeans, and I just love the gold zipper detail on the side. Shop this cropped green sweater and similar sweater below! xoxo

Oversized Black Sweater

Oversized Black Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Oversized Black Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Oversized Black Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Oversized Black Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl Oversized Black Sweater - A Pearl Kind of Girl

Sweater: Free People // Leggings: Hue // Boots: ASOS // Earrings: J.Crew // Clutch: Rebecca Minkoff

What is better than on oversized black sweater? Okay, I know I probably love black a little too much and the oversized sweater and legging look is really just for comfort, but I seriously love this sweater. I picked up this oversized black sweater on a whim for a football game, which ended up being super cold. I put this sweater to the real test in 40-degree weather, and it was surprisingly very warm. I recommend going a size down in this sweater though. The oversized description is no joke, I am wearing an extra small, and it still fits very large on me. Even after a few washes I have not experienced any pilling or shedding, and the material is still as soft as it was when I purchased the sweater. I paired this oversized black sweater with my favorite leather leggings and black over the knee boots. This sweater also pairs well with skinny jeans or half tucked into a skirt. To complete my look I added my favorite Rebecca Minkoff clutch, and these adorable bow hoops from J.Crew. Shop my all black look below! xoxo
