The day I found out we were expecting, I started planning ideas for both a boy’s and a girl’s nursery. A few months later, when we found out it was a girl, I had to think of ways to break it to our family that I was going to buy a black crib. I wanted the furniture we bought for the nursery to easily transition throughout our daughter’s life. I chose this dresser with a changing pad holder as opposed to a changing table that she would eventually outgrow. Her dresser has so many deep drawers, I am actually a little jealous it is not in our room. I also chose this crib because it will transition into a toddler bed as well. The crib skirt will only last as long as she is using the crib/toddler bed, but Biscuit makes bedding that will coordinate with the monogrammed pillow, roll pillows, and scalloped blanket for a future “big girl room”. I have included links to everything else in the nursery below! xoxo

It was always part of the plan to remodel our master bathroom and the pandemic seemed like the perfect time. Really, two years was two years too long for me to live with the tiny shower, green walls and giant jacuzzi tub. In late September I started talking to contractors and quickly decided that since I knew exactly what I wanted I could be my own contractor. I called our paint guy, who knew a tile guy, who knew a cabinet guy, who knew a glass guy and before I knew it I had a remodeling team. They were all fantastic to work with and they helped create exactly what I wanted. In less than a month they gutted the entire bathroom, moved pipes and plugs, retextured the walls, painted, tiled, installed cabinets and hung our mirrors. The downfall of remodeling in a pandemic was that our cabinet handles, towel ring, towel hooks and toilet paper holder were all on back order. The first week of March we finally received all the hardware we had ordered in October and can share our master bathroom before & after. I cannot share our beautiful new bathroom without thanking my father in law for helping me source the perfect tile. I also owe my dad and his friend Kevin for convincing me that I needed a full vanity and their great eye for design. Everything used in our bathroom is linked below and I am happy to pass long recommendations for who we used! xoxo

We finally finished our guest room, just in time for us to relocate while we remodel our master bathroom. When we moved in 2 years ago the very first thing I did was paint over the green walls and brown stripe in the guest room. Slowly we transformed the room piece by piece and I finally feel like we are close enough to share the guest room before & after. The bed, bedside table and dresser were Alex’s before we got married and I gave them a small face lift with new drawer pulls. We added simple bedding and layered texture with euro shams and a decorative pillow. We replaced the ceiling fan with a flush mount, threw out the blinds for curtains and added some Texas themed art. All pieces are linked below! xoxo

Christmas Table

Somehow we were lucky enough to not host any major holidays this year (woohoo), and are only having immediate family over for a Christmas meal. Just like my Thanksgiving table, I set our Christmas table with a simple white and gold color pallet. We are still in the process of finding a buffet and artwork (harder than I thought it would be) so I try to keep our table settings as simple as the room. I set the table with the same white linen place mats, chippendale sliver and French provincial china that I used at Thanksgiving and Easter. I added these glass Christmas trees, snowflake napkin rings and snowflake place card holders to bring in the Christmas spirit. I love these glass Christmas trees, because even when the table is not set for dinner, they help fill the space. I debated ordering these napkins from Williams-Sonoma, but I decided on  the gold snowflake napkin rings, because they can also be used for a New Year’s Eve dinner. Shop everything on my Christmas table below! xoxo

Christmas Decor

A Pearl Kind of Girl - Christmas Decor

I usually have a strict “after Thanksgiving” rule for Christmas decor, but since Thanksgiving was so late this year my rule went out the window. I may or may not have decorated the first weekend of November (whoops). I just love when my house is decorated for Christmas, the tree and lights just add so much joy to our space. Some of my favorite decor pieces are these beautiful stockings from Horchow, this prelight garland and these modern ornaments. When shopping for seasonal decor, I try to buy things that I will still like in 10 or 20 years. Somethings will have to be changed out as time goes on, but I love the idea of our decor being a part of our Christmas traditions. Half Bathroom Before & After

If you follow along on Instagram Stories you know the long saga of us tiling our half bathroom. Almost a month later I am finally ready to share our half bathroom before & after! Okay, well I am missing my artwork in the photos, but I couldn’t keep you all waiting any longer.

This is the smallest room in our house (even our closet is bigger), which made it difficult to remodel and photograph. From day one the laminate floor, dated fixtures and taupe paint made me cringe to walk by. The decision to tile the floor was obvious, but my dad helped me come up with the vision to go a few feet up the wall with the same tile. The ceiling is so tall in our half bath that it helps fill all the empty space in the room. My sweet father-in-law volunteered two weekends of his time to help us tile the floors and three feet up the wall. He works in the tile industry and I am pretty sure I was the most OCD client he has had to deal with (we owe him big time)!

In addition to the new tile, we painted the rest of the wall white, replaced the faucet, light fixture, mirror and hardware. We left the pedestal vanity because the room was too small to do much else. As soon as my Nirvana print comes in, it will hang just above my head on the tall empty wall. We are almost finished with a few other rooms in our house and I will be sure to share them as well. If you missed it, check out our guest bathroom before & after as well! xoxo
