There are just those days when you need to get things accomplished, and about half my days are spent running around trying to cross things off my to do list. On days like these, I dress more casual than usual and typically go for an outfit very similar to this one. I saw this french colors sweatshirt in J.Crew last week (I was really looking for a dress, whoops) and took it straight to the register without even trying it on. I am wearing a XS, because I like the cropped fit, but I recommend going about two sizes up if you like the oversized look for sweatshirts. I love the simplicity of the sweatshirt while still being a fun conversation starter. These leggings from Lululemon are my absolute favorite, because they are high waisted and have pockets on the sides (total game changer). I am wearing a size 4 in the leggings. If you have never shopped at Lululemon before, I recommend checking their size guide because their clothes run small. While I love my heels, I also love my white Nikes. I have a weird affinity for white tennis shoes and my sweet coworkers picked these out for me. My outfit wouldn’t be complete without my everyday vintage Louis Vuitton, Karen Walker sunnies and a grande Starbucks coffee. I usually stick to a classic grande pike place with non-fat milk, but if I am feeling adventurous I will get a skinny chi tea latte (hot or cold), or and iced unsweet green tea with two scoops of matcha. Below I have linked my favorite leggings, sweatshirts, Nikes, and sunnies to help you conquer your to-do list! xoxo
I love tweed and I love structured jackets, so when I saw this metallic tweed jacket at J.Crew, it was literally calling my name! The metallic silver and white color is perfect for winter and the transition into spring. I also love the fact that this jacket is fully lined, so I can wear a tank or short sleeve top (like this one pictured above) under it without the tweed being itchy. The jacket is a little short all around, so I ended up buying a size 2 and it fits perfectly. The black zipper and fringe detail gives great contrast, to make this jacket more of a statement piece. I chose to pair the jacket with my favorite high waisted jeans, a comfortable black tee and basic black pumps for a more casual look. If you want to dress this jacket up, it will go nicely with a black shift dress, or the matching a-line dress from J.Crew. You can find this jacket at Nordstrom or J.Crew, but it is currently on sale at J.Crew only (take an extra 40% off until January 30th with code: GETSHOPPING)! xoxo
Out recent trip to London was broken up by a day trip to Manchester. We rode a 2 hour train from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly, mainly so Alex could visit Old Trafford stadium (this is how I got him to go to tea at Harrods).
Old Trafford: Alex is a Manchester United fan, so he set up a tour of Old Trafford so we could have the full stadium experience. We saw every aspect of the stadium including the locker room, tunnel, players seats, owners box, and press room. Go behind the scenes at Old Trafford and see the stadium through the eyes of Manchester United greats themselves. The tour was about 80 minutes long and very informative. Tickets for adults are £18 and if you have your student ID you can get a student ticket for £16.
La Tasca: After our tour of Old Trafford I went on the hunt for a curling iron that worked in the UK and finally found one at Boots. Since we were already out walking around, we decide to just pick a random restaurant and give it a try. We were craving something spicy, so when we saw a Spanish restaurant we were pretty excited. We started our meal with the Pan Del Día, which was grilled bread served with extra virgin olive oil and sherry balsamic reduction. For our main course we shared four different tapas including the Gambas Pil Pil (king prawns cooked in garlic, chilli & olive oil, served with baked bread), Pollo con Chorizo (chicken & chorizo in a creamy white wine & smoky paprika sauce), Chorizo (fresh ‘dulce’ chorizo sausage, sautéed with caramelised red onion, garlic & thyme), and Albondigas (roasted pork meatballs, in a rich, slow-cooked spicy tomato sauce). My favorite tapas were the Pollo con Chorizo and the Albondigas, but Alex liked the Chorizo the best. When we saw the Churros Y Amigos on the menu, we instantly splurged for dessert and did not regret it one bit.
Cloud 23: When we first arrived in Manchester, our Uber driver was kind enough to share his favorite spots in Manchester, including a dining room on the 23rd floor on the Hilton hotel. We had some free time, so we gave Cloud 23 a try before catching our train back to London. The atmosphere and view were incredible and we enjoyed the cheese plate with a selection of cheese, seasonal fruit chutney, grapes and biscuits. Our cheese selection included a sharp cheddar, a mild blue cheese, and one of the creamiest bries I have ever had. They were serving tea as well while we where there and I would not mind going back for tea sometime in the future.
Below are picture from all of our stops in Manchester! xoxo
On our last night in London we finally made it to the one restaurant I was dying to try, Sketch. I had seen the monochromatic pink gallery room all over Instagram and had to checkout the extensive collection of David Shrigley’s original drawings. We sat in a booth facing the copper bar, surrounded by pink velvet and 239 unusual and curious sketches. To start our meal, we had the Chantilly Lace, with black rice, basmati rice, lobster bisque, red pepper and horseradish. The flavor the rice and lobster bisque was incredible, but I could have gone with a little less horseradish because it was so powerful. For the main course, I had the veal with root vegetables and dijon mustard bouillon, and Alex had the Pan-fried sirloin of black angus beef. My veal was perfectly tender and I loved the dijon flavor with root vegetables. Dessert was my favorite part of the whole meal, I had the Sketch chocolate with cocoa arlette, dried fruits, blackcurrant marmalade, and Manjari chocolate panna cotta. Alex had the So British with mint yogurt and white chocolate croquant, green cardamom lassi, aloe vera, and yellow mango. The atmosphere, food and service were all fantastic, I highly recommend Sketch for tea or dinner if you are visiting London. If you do visit Sketch, I recommend dressing up (they have a dress code) and wearing dark colors (everyone was basically in black). I have linked some dresses similar to the one I wore below! xoxo
