We are slowly checking things off the wedding to do list, and finally ordered our save the dates! Now we just have to finalize the guest list (the hardest part of the whole wedding planning process) and get these in the mail. Of course I had a difficult time picking a layout for our save the dates, and I went through many designs on just about every site. I loved the designs offered on Paperless Post, but I was not wild about sending an e-vite. I ended up going through the hundreds of save the dates Minted had to offer until I had narrowed my options down to about four designs. Alex and I eventually agreed on this design because of the simplicity, and the variety of images we could feature (for our family/friends who are not tech-savvy to see more images). Minted even offered free envelope addressing that matched the design of our card. Since we are still making changes to the guest list, I will have to hand-write a few addresses, but the pre-addressed envelopes saved me so much time. This time last weekend, Alex and I had just finished shooting this look when we were in a bad accident on the Dallas North Toll Road. Luckily everyone was fine, but we were hit by a large pickup truck and Alex’s car was a total loss. If you follow we me on Instagram stories, you know that we bought a car this weekend and are already in love with Sewell Cadillac’s famed customer service. Now that we are back to owning two cars we can focus back on buying house (ugh).
It has taken me a little longer to write this post with everything going on this week, but I could not put off sharing this super warm camel sweater any longer. This sweater has been perfect for the recent 20-30 degree temperatures here in Dallas. It is 100% merino wool, and I just love the neutral camel color. I am wearing a size small and it has a slight over-sized fit and longer sleeves than I would normally buy. I paired this sweater with my favorite Paige jeans and nude Marc Fisher heels. Our engagement photos are finally here! Back in December, Alex and I braved some chilling temperatures to capture these images with Adria Lea Photography, and I couldn’t wait to share them. Photography is one of my top priorities for our wedding, and I knew Adria would be able to capture exactly what Alex and I were looking for.
Prior to meeting with photographers, I put together a “mood board” to gave examples of the kind of photography I wanted for our engagements and wedding images. I quickly noticed a trend in engagement photos for the couple to be shot in a park, field, or in a rustic/rural setting. While all these images were gorgeous and well done, that does not fit Alex and I well. We are much more likely to be found downtown. I started pulling more editorial shots from other bloggers and magazines that highlighted a more urban downtown feel. When I meet Adria at Starbucks, with my tabloid size inspirational prints (looking like a total crazy bride), she was instantly excited about the direction I wanted and had some great ideas to help us capture a “Dallas vibe”.
We met Adria downtown in the evening to capture the golden hour lighting (my favorite time to shoot downtown). We wanted to dress a little more formal, so I wore this black Tadashi Shoji dress, black heels, and pearls. I am wearing a 2 in the dress and it fits way too large (it was sold out in 0), but I just crossed my fingers that it would not be too obvious in pictures. Alex wore his navy Brooks Brothers suit with a classic white shirt and Cole Haan loafers. The high that day was about 42 degrees, so when Adria asked us to take off our shoes and run through the refection pond I thought she was crazy. The water was so cold, I think I was on my tip toes for the rest of the shoot to avoid putting my whole foot in the icy water. The funny thing is, the shots of us running and splashing in the refection pond are some of my favorites. Happy 2018! I know I missed January 1st, but I took the last few days to reflect on 2017 and create personal goals for 2018. Plus, we have had a (not so) nice little freeze here in Dallas, so there was no way I was taking more blog photos until it warmed back up! I am starting the new year bundled up in this cashmere cropped green sweater. This sweater is so warm and easy to style that I now own it in multiple colors. I am wearing a small, and it is cropped just enough to wear with high waisted pants, but not so cropped that it is revealing. The sleeves are a little long on me, so I rolled them back once and they were just the right length. I paired this cropped green sweater with my favorite leather leggings and classic black leather booties. These Michael Kors booties go perfectly with leather leggings or skinny jeans, and I just love the gold zipper detail on the side. Shop this cropped green sweater and similar sweater below! xoxo

What is better than on oversized black sweater? Okay, I know I probably love black a little too much and the oversized sweater and legging look is really just for comfort, but I seriously love this sweater. I picked up this oversized black sweater on a whim for a football game, which ended up being super cold. I put this sweater to the real test in 40-degree weather, and it was surprisingly very warm. I recommend going a size down in this sweater though. The oversized description is no joke, I am wearing an extra small, and it still fits very large on me. Even after a few washes I have not experienced any pilling or shedding, and the material is still as soft as it was when I purchased the sweater. I paired this oversized black sweater with my favorite leather leggings and black over the knee boots. This sweater also pairs well with skinny jeans or half tucked into a skirt. To complete my look I added my favorite Rebecca Minkoff clutch, and these adorable bow hoops from J.Crew. Shop my all black look below! xoxo
